What LRQA offers, and what it publishes
LRQA is accredited by UKAS to certify AI management systems to ISO/IEC 42001, for developers, providers and users of AI. Its UKAS schedule, dated 24 June 2026, also covers ISO 27001 and ISO 27701. LRQA says it will not consult on any system it certifies, and will not certify one it has consulted on.
LRQA does not publish a price. The ISO 42001 page offers a phone number and a quote form, with no fees or cost factors. It does not publish a directory on its site to check a certificate. We did not find its full certification terms, or anything on how it uses AI itself.
LRQA says Emirates Health Services was the first organisation it assessed to ISO 42001, in April 2024. That was before it announced UKAS accreditation on 6 February 2026, so check which accreditation mark an LRQA certificate carries. It also sells ISO 42001 training and gap analysis. Its 323 Trustpilot reviews are strongly positive, mostly about training.
Strengths
- UKAS-accredited for ISO/IEC 42001:2023 on schedule 0001 (Issue 220, 24 June 2026), under ISO/IEC 17021-1 and ISO/IEC 42006:2025
- Explicit published separation of consultancy from certification: LRQA states it will not consult on any management system it certifies, in either direction
- Named ISO 42001 client outcome published, Emirates Health Services, described as the first organisation assessed to ISO 42001 with LRQA
- Offers combined audits for AI management, information security, quality and environmental standards.
Things to check
- No certification pricing is published, quote-only via phone or web form.
- Ask how to check an LRQA-issued ISO 42001 certificate. The ISO 42001 page does not link to a public certificate search.
- Early named ISO 42001 outcomes (Emirates Health Services, April 2024) predate LRQA's UKAS accreditation, which was announced 6 February 2026, buyers should check which accreditation mark a certificate carries.
- Complaints and appeals detail sits in a downloadable PDF rather than on the web page, and no outcome transparency is published.
Common questions
Is LRQA accredited to certify ISO/IEC 42001?
Yes. Its UKAS schedule, issue 220 dated 24 June 2026, lists ISO/IEC 42001:2023 for AI developers, providers and users. LRQA announced the accreditation on 6 February 2026.
What does LRQA certification cost?
It does not publish a price. The ISO 42001 page lists no fees and asks you to phone or send a quote request.
Were LRQA's early ISO 42001 certificates UKAS-accredited?
Not necessarily. LRQA assessed Emirates Health Services in April 2024, before it announced UKAS accreditation on 6 February 2026. Ask which accreditation mark any LRQA certificate you rely on carries.
Does LRQA also consult on ISO 42001?
Not on systems it certifies. It sells ISO 42001 training and gap analysis, but says it will not consult on any management system it certifies, or certify one it has consulted on.
