What Perry Johnson Registrars offers, and what it publishes
You get a certification body covering many management system standards. It says it has operated since 1994 and that five bodies accredit it: ANAB, UKAS, ACCREDIA, JAB and EMA. Its terms bar it and its related bodies from certifying a site they consulted for or trained in the prior two years. It publishes its complaint and appeal procedures.
Perry Johnson Registrars does not publish a price. Fees are set for each organisation in an individual schedule, and the only way in is a quote form. It does not say which body accredits which standard, or whether any body accredits it for ISO/IEC 42001. It does not publish its insurer or cover limit.
We could not check ANAB's directory for an ISO/IEC 42001 accreditation, so that service is offered but unconfirmed. PJR also sells its own paid training courses, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 45001. Its two-year rule does not remove that commercial link. Its terms cap its liability at the fees you paid for the service.
Strengths
- Published, contractually binding impartiality safeguard: Terms and Conditions clause 3.3 bars PJR and related bodies from certifying a site they consulted for or trained within the prior two years, and clause 4.14 bars consultants from being on-site during IATF 16949 audits.
- Publishes actual downloadable procedure documents (Complaint Procedure PRO-9, Dispute/Appeal Procedure PRO-10, full Terms and Conditions) rather than only summary policy statements.
- Broad, long-established accreditation footprint (self-reported: ANAB, UKAS, ACCREDIA, JAB, EMA) across many management-system standards including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 13485, AS9100, IATF 16949 and FSSC 22000, with PJR describing itself as operating as an accredited registrar since 1994.
Things to check
- PJR lists ISO/IEC 42001 (AI management systems) as a certification service on its Standards page, but neither that page nor its Accreditations page states it currently holds ANAB (or any other body's) accreditation specifically for ISO/IEC 42001, independent verification via ANAB's own public directory could not be obtained (register blocked, see blockers), so this scope should be treated as unconfirmed rather than assumed.
- Fees are set in a separate schedule for each client. Ask for this before signing the contract.
- PJR sells its own paid online standards training courses (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001 clause-by-clause and transition training) alongside certification; the 2-year separation rule addresses direct conflicts of interest but does not remove the adjacent commercial relationship.
- No public disclosure of PJR's own professional-indemnity/liability insurance carrier or coverage limit was found; the Terms and Conditions only require both parties to maintain unspecified 'sufficient' insurance and let PJR ask for proof privately.
Common questions
Does PJR publish its certification fees?
No. There is no price list or fee range on its website. Fees are set per organisation in an individual schedule of fees, and the only public route is a free quotation form.
Is PJR accredited to certify ISO/IEC 42001?
Unconfirmed. PJR lists ISO/IEC 42001 as a certification service, but neither its standards page nor its accreditations page says which body accredits it for that standard. We could not complete a check of ANAB's public directory.
How does PJR keep certification separate from consulting?
By contract. Clause 3.3 of its terms bars PJR and its related bodies from certifying a site they consulted for or trained within the prior two years. Clause 4.14 bars consultants from being on site during IATF 16949 audits.

Notes behind each thing to check

| Criterion | Score | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Help when things go wrong | No published record of certificate suspension or withdrawal action, and no regulatory-defence history of any kind, appears anywhere in the fact-set. | |
| Qualifications of the people who do the work | Five accreditation bodies named (ANAB, UKAS, ACCREDIA, JAB, EMA) but not mapped to specific standards; ISO/IEC 42001 scope itself is unconfirmed, not independently verified. | |
| What it publishes about fees | No price list, fee ranges, or worked examples published anywhere on pjr.com; fees are set privately per organisation via a quote-request form only. | |
| Knowledge of your sector | ISO 42001 listed as an offered certification service, but no scope statement, accreditation-body reference, certificate number, or named client case study evidences actual delivered practice. | |
| Independence from what it sells | Published 2-year consulting/training separation clause (3.3) is a real safeguard, but PJR also sells its own paid standards training courses, an adjacent commercial relationship. | |
| Who carries the risk if the advice is wrong | Liability is capped at fees paid for the service (clause 7.3), but PJR's own PI insurance carrier or coverage limit is never publicly disclosed, only privately on request. |
